Zuunbayan–Khangi Railway Project
The 226.9 km Zuunbayan–Khangi railway, developed under a Design-Build-Operate-Transfer (DBOT) concession framework, has been successfully implemented by the consortium of Mongolian Trans Line LLC and Mongolian Trans Logistics LLC. The project was formally handed over to the State Commission on December 30, 2024, and as of today, the line has facilitated the transport of 2.6 million tonnes of cargo.
Coal Export Logistics from the Tavantolgoi Basin
Our company currently transports export-bound coal from various mining operators operating in the Tavantolgoi coal basin via the Nomgon–Khangi rail corridor, spanning a total of 540 kilometers.

Tavantolgoi Coal Deposit – A Strategically Significant Resource Hub
The Tavantolgoi coal deposit, located in Ömnögovi Province, is a world-class asset of strategic importance, containing both coking and thermal coal reserves.
According to an independent assessment conducted in 2020 by Stantec Inc. (USA), the total coal resources of the deposit are estimated at 7.075 billion tonnes, the majority of which is confirmed to be high-quality coking coal.

Production and Transportation Capacity
Annually, the deposit produces and exports approximately 60 million tonnes of coal to international markets.
In alignment with this, the Tavantolgoi–Nomgon–Khangi railway corridor, spanning 540 kilometers, is designed with a transportation capacity of 25 million tonnes per year.

Nomgon Station
Nomgon Station is strategically located within the territory of Mandakh soum, Dornogovi Province, and serves as the starting point of the Zuunbayan–Khangi railway corridor. The station functions as a key railway junction connecting three critical directions: it is linked to the Tavantolgoi coal deposit cluster via a 328.2 km railway line, and to the central railway mainline of Mongolia—connecting Russia and China—through a 158 km track to the Ulaanbaatar Railway. This establishes Nomgon as a vital hub within Mongolia’s integrated rail logistics network.
