Altanshireet: Industral Park

As the implementer of the Altanshireet Industrial Park Project, we are working with the goal of making a significant contribution to the development of the region, accelerating the development of the country’s export sector, reprocessing mining products domestically, producing value-added final products, and expanding the development into the mineral resources sector and heavy industry.

Our Industrial Park Project is consistent with the Government of Mongolia’s policy reform to support production within the domestic economy. Namely, the Government of Mongolia’s Framework Resolution No. 106 “New Revival Policy,” Appendix 2.3.2.2 of 2021, provides for the “development of ferrous metallurgy production along with ancillary industries to meet domestic demand for steel products” policy. Pursuant to the above, the Altanshireet Industrial Park Project was granted the right of establishment under the Government of Mongolia’s Resolution No. 257, dated 05 July 2023. Under the framework of the Project, the following shall be implemented:

Iron Ore Washing Plant

The plant consists of 2 workshops and has the capacity to produce 1.0–1.5 million tons of iron concentrate with Fe content of 65–68% per year.

Coal Washing Plant

The plant consists of a crushing unit for coal preparation, a washing concentration workshop, a dewatering workshop, and a concentrate waste transportation and storage workshop. It has an annual coal washing capacity of 1.5 million tons.

Coking and Power Plant

Within the coking plant, 2x300,000-ton coke plants and 2x1,000,000-ton metallurgical plants are planned to be put into operation in the second phase. A horizontal furnace will be used to generate energy using the volatile gases released from the coke oven. The plant is planned to build a plant with a capacity of 1.0–1.5 million tons of coke.

Pelletisation Plant

The annual capacity of the plant is 650,000 tons in the first year, and 1,000,000 tons of iron concentrate can be processed and produced in the second year. The plant is planned to consist of a batching plant, a drying plant, a mixing plant, a pellet printing/burning plant, a cooling plant, a reservoir and a water pump unit, an integrated electrical and communication control system, and product storage units.

Pig Iron Plant

The plant has the capacity to produce 500,000 tons of pig iron per year.

The strategic priorities and goals of Altanshireet Industrial Park for 2023–2040 are defined as follows:

To be headlined as the National Heavy Industry Complex industrial technology model park;
Creating an integrated system of infrastructure construction, logistics, and resources;
To introduce a comprehensive international standard and quality management system in the company’s operations;
Stimulating research and development, technological improvement, competitive product development, and innovation; and
Development of industrial cooperation in accordance with the concept of sustainable development, supporting the social and economic development of the region.
