Khandgait Mine

Khandgait Mine

The Khandgait Mine Project is wholly owned by Infinity Space LLC, a subsidiary of the Group Company which operates both the MV-016947 and MV-022128 mining licenses in Eruu sub-province of Selenge province.

About Infinity Space LLC

Infinity Space LLC is a Mongolian mining and mineral exploration company established in 2011, with a state registration number 9011269137. Since its founding, the company has been actively involved in the fields of foreign trade, geological exploration, and mineral exploitation, primarily focused on iron ore reserves in northern Mongolia.

Infinity Space is the licensed holder of two significant mining areas in the “Khandgait” region of Eruu soum, Selenge Province:

  • MV-016947: A mining license originally issued on November 10, 2011, covering 660.64 hectares of land
  • MV-022128: An exploitation license granted on May 24, 2022, covering an additional 156.37 hectares, following mineral exploration works conducted under the prior exploration license XV-016948.

These licenses encompass key sections of the Khandgait iron ore deposit, specifically the northeast orebody of the primary iron reserve. The site is strategically located 95 km northeast of Darkhan city and 35 km east of Eruu sum, with excellent connectivity to regional infrastructure, including the Khandgait railway station.

Project Scope

The core operations of Infinity Space LLC include:

  • Open-pit mining of iron ore at the Khandgait deposit
  • Production and sales of iron ore concentrate
  • Long-term reserve exploitation, with feasibility studies conducted in full compliance with Mongolian government and international standards

Mine optimization was conducted using Geovia Whittle software, applying product price assumptions from 50% to 150% in 5% increments. The mine design and feasibility studies incorporate best-practice methods including comparative, simulation, and programmed calculations.

Infrastructure & Location Advantage

  • Infinity Space’s license areas benefit from the region’s highly developed infrastructure:
  • 4 km from a newly established 110kW transmission line
  • 10 km from the Khandgait railway station, which links to the national railway grid
  • 2–3 km from improved road access to ore loading/unloading zones
  • Served by major mobile networks: Mobicom, G-Mobile, Unitel, and Skytel

The deposit is located in a region with a robust mining ecosystem, neighboring large-scale iron ore operations such as Tumurtei and Khust Mountain, further strengthening its strategic significance.

Environmental & Geological Profile

The Khandgait deposit lies within the Hercynian geosyncline belt of the Khentii tectonic zone, characterized by:

  • Extreme continental climate with temperatures ranging from -34°C in winter to +30°C in summer
  • Average annual precipitation of 270–435 mm
  • Altitudes between 800m and 1040m, with the highest nearby peak at 1512.4m
  • Rich biodiversity including native mammals (moose, deer, bear) and avian species

Water resources are abundant, with the Eroo River 15 km southwest of the site and the Khandgait spring providing for the site’s technical and drinking water needs.

Commitment to Responsible Mining

Infinity Space LLC is committed to sustainable, economically viable mining practices. The company adheres to the technical and economic feasibility standards approved by the Ministry of Mining, ensuring that environmental, economic, and community factors are integrated into its development model.

As Infinity Space continues to expand its operations, it remains focused on maximizing value for stakeholders while preserving the ecological integrity of the region.
